New Thrift Store on Claiborne Avenue

Along with sweet olive blooms, daffodils and other flowers are popping up in yards all over town. It also seems that the New Orleans Thrift Scene is coming back bigger than ever. There is a new shop at 1832 Claiborne Avenue. This shop pops up as soon as you take the North Claiborne exit from the Interstate in a bright orange strip mall that has been repainted since the storm. The shop is called "Thrift Center" and it just opened up in March. The manager says they have been very busy, especially selling jeans to construction workers and housewares to families moving back since Katrina.
But what I noticed was that they had a lot of really cute shoes. In the $4 range!

Thrift Center, 1832 Claiborne is open Monday Through Saturday 9-6. It is located on the riverside of the street. See you there!

This is getting really old

Thanks to a very alert friend, I was emailed a copy of this photo:

When someone copies something you make because you are an artist and not something you are copying out of 17 magazine just to make money it really sucks. What makes it worse was this was someone who emailed and begged for a bunch of cuffs for her photo shoot and traded with some itmes that well anyway. Now she is making several items that look like mine. It just sucks and right now I hate her.

Shabby Crabby lost in the crawfiest fiesta with professor bloghair

I am sleeping and dreaming these salvage collages.Even though the house is up to the eyeballs with stuff for the V to the Tenth event, the collages have my full attention.

I'll be cutting out bits for cuffs, vacuuming, grading papers, and the lines from something in the peripheal will come into focus and seem like something great for a collage.Like a bunch of pet hair.

Well nothing has pet hair in it yet, at least on purpose, so we'll see.I cant wait for summer vacation and the time to work on these for just a bit longer.

In love with salvage collage!

I had so much fun making debris collages for the Etsy Street team challenge that I havent been able to stop. This is the latest, probably to be called crawfish siesta.

it is so much fun to make something without the pressure that it has to be for a show or for any other reason than just being itself.

I cannot figure yet what will happen with the rusty metal. Should it be affixed with nails or sewn on?hmmmmmmmm
